Bloggin' on a Budget || Week 24
I can tell you to go save until I'm blue in the face but instead I'll just give you all of the tools needed to save.
Here's the original post detailing the 52 Week Savings Challenge.
It's never too late to start. And you don't have to go in order of the calendar. As I said in a previous post, I already knocked out December's and thinking of knocking out November's starting next week. Whatever's clever. And bank account friendly.
Until next time...

My current life...via gifs.
Yea. This is what I feel like right now...
mixed with a little of this:
And this old chick in my group for our final project is driving me insane and I just want to do this:
Then tell her this:
And then go on a rampage like this:
I just have to keep reminding myself that it'll all be over soon. Very. Very. Soon.
Anyway. It's week 20 of 2013. Put money in the bank [shawty what you thank?].

Just Another Maniac Monday
- My bladder. It's the size of a pea (pun intended) so every 30-40 minutes ...well you get the point
- My Dog. She doesn't always have to go out but when she does it's right after you get comfortable
- Laundry was done. Gotta mumbo the laundry. And if you're asking what mumbo-ing the laundry is, it's a Frusciante-ism that apparently means to switch the loads. Courtesy of the crazy Frusciante family.
Anyway, it's week 18. So depending on what plan you're following put don't forget to put in:
- $18
- $36
- Whatever amount you're on.
- Nothing. I don't care really. You're money, not mine.
Until Next Time...

Bloggin' On a Budget || Where did the time go?
But I come to check in with everyone and leap my way into their bank accounts, piggy banks, underneath their mattresses, in a shoe box buried in the back yard - all that - to remind you that it is officially the start of week 14! So you know what that means?
You better had deposited at least $14 into your 52 week savings account. Or if you're still doing double (high five!) that would be $28. Or if you decided to skip ahead to some of the higher payments because you're on baller status... just remember which week you're doing. You should already be able to see a significant influx in your bank account.
Don't know what in the world I'm talking about? Well it's not too late to join the 52 Week Savings Challenge
Until Next Time...

Bloggin' on a Budget || Savings Week 8-9
Hope you remembered to put your $8 (or $16 if you're doubling up like me) in the bank as a part of our 52 weeks of savings. If not it's not too late to add your Week 8 savings and you it's never too early to put in your Week 9 savings.
Some of you may be flying through this and thinking "$8 (or $16) a week is a piece of yummy homemade chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing. I can do this all year long". Then you happen to catch a glance at week 52 and you think you yourself. "Self, I'm not sure if I can do $49 (or $98), $50 (or $100), $51 (or $102), and $52 (or $104) during December of this year. That's $152 (or $304) during the month when I usually spend the most." Well before you start biting your nails down to the stub I have a solution for you.
Start backwards. Or jump around (jump up, jump up and get down). If you find yourself during week 10 with enough money to cover some of the later weeks, go ahead and put that in now and mark that week off of your list. As long as you hit all of the weeks before the end of the year, you'll end up putting in the exact same amount. So if you know that December you'll be strapped for cash, switch December for March. Or maybe you're going on vacation in September and won't have any extra money then? Swap April for September. Or random weeks for other random week. Hell, put all of the money in your account now when you get your tax refund and call it a
Sound like a plan? Well get to it skippy!
Until next time...

Bloggin' On A Budget || Week 6-7 of 52
How are my favorite savers out there? It's the end of week 6, beginning of week 7 for our 52 week savings challenge. If you haven't started saving, it's not too late. To date you should have put in at least $21 into your savings account/piggy bank/ under your mattress/ in a hole in the back yard/etc. But if you're like me and want to be an overachiever, you could put in double a week and be up to $42. Your call savers! Hope all is well.
Let me know what you plan to buy with your savings come this time next year? As for me? I'm looking at revamping my wardrobe. Or adding on to my future house fund.
For those that need a reminder of what the 52 week savings plan is, I aim to please.

Bloggin' On a Budget || 52 Week Challenge
![]() |
| Taken from a post I saw on fb. For one those random updates from people who like everything was worth something. |
There are a few ways to do it. The simplest way (in my opinion) is to do it electronically via mobile/ online banking. If you don't already have a savings account (that you utilize only for savings, not dipping into because those shoes are too cute to pass up) that would work perfectly. If not, get one.
Or you could just put it in a mason jar or fancy box/jar/holding apparatus in your bedroom. At the end of every week, deposit the said amount into the account and watch you're money grow. It's really simple. For the week of the year, put that amount into the account. $1 for the first week, $2 for the second week, $3 for the third week and so on and so forth.
Who's with me?
Oh and if you're extra special, why not do two savings accounts at once? Or even double the amount you put in there?

Bloggin' On A Budget
As much as I hate to admit it, I'm still a poor college student. No, I'm not in undergrad. And yes, I do officially have a big girl job. But I still look at money like a poor college student. Why? Because I know the cost of things. I know how much my cell phone bill costs. I know how much I pay in rent - by the way, the rent is STILL too damn high. I understand that going to the grocery store and spending under $100 on two weeks worth of food is definitely a victory that should be celebrated to the fullest extent.
So you're asking yourself "But Karla (with a K), you have a big girl job. Shouldn't you be able to afford everything you would need?" And my answer to you my dearest reader is yes. Yes I can afford everything that I need. And I can also afford almost everything that I would want because...I still look at myself as a poor college student.
"But Karla (with a K), how is that possible?"
Slow your roll there bucko. I'll let you know how I save and budget. And then you too can become a coupon queen, brown baggin' badass, and savings superhero.
Stay tuned my loves. It's about to get good.
